About Me My name is Michelle Wiig and I am 26 years old. I am the oldest sibling of four. I have a sister Melissa (22), Brother Bryce (21)), and youngest sister Daityn (12). I am originally from Sgt. Bluff, Iowa where I was active in sports since fourth grade playing varsity basketball and volleyball beginning as a freshman. I went on to college and like most girls gained that“freshman 15” which was more like “freshman 40.” This was a very challenging time for me. Like most can related, I went through many emotions including depression. I did many crash diets, eating disorders, and known as the “cardio queen.” I was so unhappy with myself and even more upset with the fact I let myself go. If that is not enough I lost my father to suicide March 28th, 2010. My life seemed to be falling apart right before my eyes. I was losing control of myself and now just lost my father. That’s when I got on my hands and knees and prayed. My prayer was different this time around. I simply asked for guidance in the right direction to serve him and better my life. I accepted Christ into my life. This is when the motto “pay it forward” really become MY LIFE motto. I began coaching volleyball at West High School in Sioux City, Iowa with hopes of impacting the lives of the youth to show that there are people out there who truly care. I began working out and not just cardio but weight lifting too. Changes mentally and physically began to show. As time progressed my transformation was being noticed that the gym (Ultimate Fitness in Sioux City, Iowa) owners Nick and Laura Sorli opened doors for me by asking me to get certified in personal training. I am now an ISSA certified personal trainer. I graduated college at Wayne State College with a Bachelors of Science Degree (Elementary Education). That motto kept playing in my life “pay it forward”which meant God gave me the difficult situations in my life because he knew I could handle it. Not only could i handle it but he is using my experience to change other people’s lives. After I graduated college I made the decision to move to Bellevue, Nebraska and luckily landed my dream job at Golden Hills Elementary teaching 4th grade. I get the opportunity to work with some very amazing kids and try to teach them how to live a healthy lifestyle as well. We do workouts in class, I give them healthy options for treats, and every Friday I give them a “fit Friday challenge.” This is a healthy recipe to try and a workout to complete for the weekend. Being healthy all starts with you! This is my way to pay it forward and I do not plan on stopping here. I hope my story hits home with many people. I hope people realize that if I can change my life and body that you can too. Always know that no matter how bad life may seem that there are people who care about you and love you!
