I would like to know if members would be interested in a series of posts (of as yet unknown number) looking at the history of muscle in popular culture listed in historical order. Such a list would obviously start with the heroes of antiquity (such as Hercules, Samson and the like) but then include actual musclemen both real (such as Thomas Topham from the 18th century) and fictional (such as Porthos, Jean Valjean) before moving into the comic book eras. If this is something that members would like, could I ask for other names that I may not have heard of (the only qualification is that they are muscular)
